Documentary Screening

On 11th March, Friday evening screening of ‘Hausher Dhua’ directed by a promising filmmaker Md. Rasel Rana. The documentary film that won recognition in ‘Bangladesh Short & Documentary Film Festival 2021’ depicts the thousand-year-old folk tradition of Dhua songs of Jamalpur area and the lives of the artists. The film also portrays the performance style, content, musical instruments, and dance choreography in line with the lyrics of these songs.
Md. Rasel Rana (Doza) is an independent filmmaker who completed a postgraduate diploma course in filmmaking (directing) from the Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI). His first documentary, ‘Hausher Dhua’ won the Best Documentary, Best Director (Documentary), Best Editing, Best Sound Design awards at the Bangladesh Short & Documentary Film Festival 2021 arranged by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He is a stage actor of Aranyak Natyadal, currently studying folk music in the department of Chayanat, making films, and researching ancient Bengali folk music.
