‘Shunno’ means ‘Zero’—a space of possibility, openness, and new beginnings.
The name reflects our belief that creativity starts from an empty ground, where nothing is fixed, and everything can evolve. Shunno is a reminder to stay curious, question what we know, and embrace the unknown with courage. It represents a state of humility and readiness—where artists, learners, and communities can come together, create, unlearn, and begin again.
Our space serves as a platform for artists to exhibit and showcase their artwork, as well as provide a space for creative expression and cultural engagement.
At Shunno, we have a studio and display space for artistic development and a venue for events and performances. We also foster community involvement through our weekend events. Additionally, Shunno fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, where artists from different fields can come together and create innovative projects.
Studio Shunno is an artist-run printmaking studio working independently as a cultural junction. 600 sft studio room has one large etching press and one small one. The facility offers cyanotype, etching, aquatint, lithograph, wood block print, linocut and mono print. Since its inception in 2005, Shunno starts as a printmaking studio facilitating the creative community, however, in 2017, its priority widened to host community engagement programs involving people from all walks of life in the creative act.
Besides working with established printmakers and multidisciplinary practitioners, Shunno also extends its collaboration through Chalantika with connoisseurs and art professionals, including writers and critics who serve as knowledge disseminators. We are ready to share our model as a case study with other networks to research, exchange resources, and collaborate with experts. If you are interested in our services, please contact us. We will be happy to meet with you and discuss how Chalantika can help make your community a better place to live.
